The prologue was a vital part of the story since it sets us in the time period and provides vital details that most won't be getting in their school classes. So I always felt a little lost when I started on the sequel books but I eventually did get back into the swing of things once i got further into the novel. The Everneath world isn’t overly complicated but there is a way that the world operates and certain terms used and I would forget that between each book (or get them confused with a similar book). But with this series I read each book as soon as they came out (the exception being the final book) so each book had at least a year between them. I’ll start with the publication gap it isn’t anything new really, books take forever to get released nowadays. If I really think about it there are probably two reasons why that is: 1) I didn’t like the heroine and 2) reading the books so far apart from each other.
